Hey,

I 100% agree with the public plan. Being English I have nothing but great experience with the NHS and I was astounded at the strange anti-public propoganda going around in the usa!!

Thanks for your post,

Forest

Andrea,
I agree that Medicare for everyone would be wonderful as an option, but per my latest post at http://bit.ly/4uLz5m still that high-deductible HSA compatible plans are a great option for those willing for pay out-of-pocket for health maintenance. Please check out and comment on the post if you have a chance. -Susan

Susan,

I'm all for capitalism and free markets, but health care is too important to let profits dictate who gets care and how much. We don't let the markets run our military or our schools, or even the local fire department. And health care is at least as important as all those.

I am ready to say goodbye to the health insurance industry and hello to Medicare for everyone.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that we need to destroy the health insurance industry, but do agree that we need a public option so that there is at least one provider motivated to provide affordable care, not maximize profits.

Hi

I agree totally with this.

Please don't be fooled by the adverts running in the US that claim the National Health Service in the UK is "evil". Most people in the UK love the health system really, and certainly if they were offered the US system they would turn it down.

What is evil about a system that provides a good level of health care for all at less cost that the US system (in terms of GDP%)? It still leaves the option for rich people to take out additional health care cover/pay for procedures as they need them.
